Expressions - Colour Contacts

There is a wide variety of options for coloured lenses on the market, and here at LensesOnline we have introduced another viable type from a reputable manufacturer; Expressions by CooperVision

The Expressions lenses are best suited to wearers who like to change the colour of their eyes for more than just the odd occasion, as these lenses are monthly replacement lenses you can get the same altered eye colour for a month at a time.

Before ordering any of the above mentioned products ask your optometrist first if your eyes are suitable for these lenses.

Google Diabetics?

Google plans to help diabetics monitor their glucose levels. The company hopes that this new smart contact lens will one day be able to measure glucose levels in tears as an alternative to testing drops of blood.

The contact lens, which is currently still in development, has a tiny wireless chip and glucose sensor embedded in it. The sensor reads glucose levels of tears once per second.

Google is exploring implanting a small LED light in the contact lens, as well. When glucose levels cross above or below certain thresholds, the LED light would blink to indicate a problem.

Google is still working on the technology needed to make this contact lens safe and effective for people to use. According to their blog, the company is in discussions with the FDA and looking for partners to help bring the lens into the market.
